Description Odisha Power Generation Corporation Ltd. (OPGC) is a government company of the Sate of Odisha, Incorporated on November 14, 1984, OPGC started as a wholly owned Government Company of the State of Odisha with the main objective of establishing, operating & maintaining large Thermal power generating stations. It operates state of the art thermal power plants at Banharpalli, Jharsuguda. It has a total generation capacity of 1740 MW. OPGC has joined hands with Vidyasaarathi portal to extend scholarships for helping meritorious students in the periphery of IB Thermal Power Station (ITPS). This CSR initiative is aimed to promote education through the scholarship in the surrounding Gram Panchayats of ITPS.

Frequently Asked Questions 1) Who should apply?
The students from the peripheral villages within the Panchayats of Telenplai, Kushraloi, Kumarbandh, Tilia, Remenda, Rampela, Sunari, Pandri, Piplikani, Sarandamal, and Dalgaon in the Lakhanpur block of Jharsuguda district, Odisha, are eligible to apply for the scholarship.

2) Which Courses are covered under the scheme?
8th, 9th & 10th of Odisha state board and intermediate arts, science & commerce are covered under the scheme.

3) Whether applicant compulsory to have a bank account?
Yes, the applicant must have a bank account while applying for scholarship he/she has to provide the details along with photocopy.

4) Any Preference to Caste?
5% weightage will be given to the students from OBC, SC & ST, they have to submit the photocopy of such certificate while applying.

5) Is this gender-based scholarship?
No, both boys & girls are encouraged to apply.

6) Any preference will be given based on the location?
Applicants beyond the periphery panchyats i.e. Telenplai, Kushraloi, Kumarbandh, Tilia, Remenda, Rampela, Sunari, Pandri, Piplikani, Sarandamal & Dalgaon in the Lakhanpur block of Jharsuguda district, Odisha, will not be eligible to get the scholarship

7) What is the maximum scholarship amount that will be awarded?
Rs. 10,000/- for 9th & 10th students and Rs. 14,000/- for 11th & 12th students will be awarded as scholarship.

Terms and Conditions a. Wards of OPGC employees (direct/indirect) will not qualify for scholarship.
b.Students must belong to the periphery villages of OPGC (ITPS, Banaharpali)
c. Students must have scored minimum 55% marks secured in the annual exam of class 10th
d. SC, ST, OBC students will get additional 5% weightage
e. Scholarship is open to boys & girls
f. Annual family income to be Rs.5 lakhs & below
